The King Shall Come
("Morning Song")
arr. by Matthew Compton
Based on the traditional tune
Morning Song, Matthew Compton's rhythmic setting is set for 2-6 octaves with optional handchimes. After a fiery intro, the piece moves into a reflective and moving middle section and then returns to the opening material and concludes with a surprise key change.
The King Shall Come was written for the 38th Annual Big Sky Handbell Festival, Billings, Montana April 26-27, 2019.
